Frugal Icon Magazine
The task was to create a magazine that's at least 24 pages for my own brand that I created. This magazine would be created and explored using things such as grid structures, style sheets, and compositional structures. The whole magazine will be telling a story and this will be done through our photography methods which are tied to the editorial content we chose.
My Brand/Concept
Since the very beginning, I knew I wanted to dive into a industry that I am unfamiliar with and leave my comfort zone. That's why I chose fashion. More specifically affordable and sustainable fashion. I decided to do this because many magazines already focus on expensive fashion and none go into depth about affordable yet sustainable fashion. I named my magazine Frugal Icon because I wanted people to know that they can still dress like a fashion icon with more frugal clothing. I wanted to put an emphasis on it's not what you wear, but how you wear it and I knew that my magazine topic would relate to a bunch of people because we often feel that we could never look good if we don't own expensive clothing, but that's not true.
Style Guide
Below shows my final style guide with my final type choices and color palette. I explored a variety of different types and settled on mainly serifs. For my color palette, I wanted both cool and vibrant colors.

Final Logo
Below shows my final logo. I used serifs because serifs can be seen as fancy and I italicized the word "icon" because I wanted some emphasis on that word. An icon can be seen as someone fancy after all, and I tend to associate italicization with fanciness.
